A Closer Look At The Key Ingredients
The Sodium Silicate: Also known as an astringent substance, which is a chemical compound that tends to shrink or constrict body tissues. Sodium silicate glides across the skin in a uniform liquid film. As the product dries, you will notice contraction on the skin as the sodium silicate tens to pull on the fine skin and make it appear tighter. Sodium silicate must be allowed to completely dry so you could notice the effects. As the product dries it lifts the skin up and the fine skin wrinkles beneath are plumped to the level of the surface providing a smooth effect and an amazing look.
Matrixyl 3000: Matrixyl® 3000 is a relatively new skin care ingredient showing impressive results. Matrixyl®3000 supports the activation of the cutaneous repair process and specifically works at the level of the fragile and UV-damage prone papillary dermis. The papillary dermis has connective tissue and blood vessels, which provides nutrients to the epidermis (the outer layer of the skin) and helps control the temperature of the skin. Matrixyl® 3000 promotes wrinkle smoothing and improves tone and elasticity making the skin feel young and rejuvenated.
Analysis of skin sections (ex vivo study) has proved that Matrixyl® 3000 significantly stimulates synthesis of (Collagen 1,4,7,17) -I , -IV, -VII, -XVII and Nidogen-I proteins. While these proteins of the dermis and dermal-epidermal junction usually decrease with age. Matrixyl® 3000 rejuvenates the dermal structure and tends to make ageing skin behave like young skin.
Palmitoyl Oligopeptide (Pal-GHK) is one of the two active ingredients in Matrixyl®
Another interesting point about GHK is that it is a part of another well-known skin care
ingredient, the copper peptide Cu-GHK. Copper peptides are known to improve wound
healing, activate skin remodeling, improve the structure of skin matrix, reduce scarring
and exert other beneficial effects on the skin.
Palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7 (Pal-GQPR) works by reducing the production ofinterleukin-6 (IL-6) which is a molecule which promotes inflammation in turn leads to faster degradation on the skin matrix in thus contributes to the development of wrinkles and loss of skin firmness and elasticity. By utilizing Palmitoyl tertapeptide-7 it can slow down the degradation of the skin matrix and may stimulate its replenishment. *Peptides, or mini proteins if you want to think of them that way, are active molecules that send signals to your cells. When collagen breaks down, it forms specific peptides that signal to your skin that it was damaged and needs to make new collagen. So by applying peptides topically, we are trying to trick our skin into thinking that it has lost collagen recently and needs to make more.
Cetyl Alcohol: is a long chain organic alcohol that takes the form of a waxy white solid or flakes at room temperature. It functions as an emulsion stabilizer, fragrance ingredient, pacifying agent, surfactant - emulsifying agent, surfactant - foam booster, and a viscosity increasing agent. It is found in a wide range of personal care products including moisturizers, shampoos and conditioners, facial cleansers, lotions, mascaras, shaving screams, and fragrances.
Glyceryl Monostearate: acts as a lubricant on the skin's surface, which gives the skin a soft and smooth appearance. It also slows the loss of water from the skin by forming a barrier on the skin's surface. Glyceryl Stearate helps to form emulsions by reducing the surface tension of the substances to be emulsified.
Propylene glycol: attract water and function as a humectant; found in moisturizers to enhance the appearance of skin by reducing flaking and restoring suppleness. Propylene glycol is one of the most widely used ingredients in cosmetics and personal care products, where it also serves as a viscosity decreasing agent, solvent and fragrance ingredient.
Lanolin: Readily absorbed by skin, lanolin resembles skin’s own sebum. It is highly emollient and an effective moisturizer. It is cushioning and protects the skin. Lanolin is an excellent moisturizing ingredient for dry skin, as it emulsifies water on the skin and holds it there; its cushioning, plumping effect is noticeable. It is a perfect ingredient for barrier creams, baby lotions and eczema creams. It creates a protective film over the skin, allowing it to function and breathe naturally.
Xanthan Gum: functions as a binder, emulsion stabilizer, skin-conditioning agent, surfactant, emulsifying agent, or as viscosity increasing agent.
Guarana: contains a high level of antioxidants making it an ideal herbal medicine for replenishing the skin and restoring its natural glow. Guarana also contains a large number of antibacterial and antifungal compounds. If you live in a hot, humid climate, an excessive amount of bacteria could be leading to various skin complications, which Guarana will help reduce the appearance of these concerns. The use of Guarana based beauty products provides a moisturizing effect with true antioxidant properties, which are ideal for cold and dry climates.
Saliguard: is a free broad spectrum mild liquid preservative system composed of Sodium Benzoate and Potassium Sorbate. This clear yellowish to brownish liquid can be soluble in all proportions and does not contain any formaldehyde or formaldehyde releasers. This globally approved preservative has a low toxicity profile and can be used in a wide range of formulations as well as most types of cationic and anionic systems in leave-on and rinse-off products at the pH range of less that 5.5 and a dosage of 0.5% to 1.5%.
